TCEP Board of Directors Nominations Sought
If you want to be part of making a difference for the Emergency Medicine Physician profession in Texas, consider nominating yourself or someone else to serve on the TCEP Board of Directors.
There are three open Regular Board positions on the 2023 ballot, as well three one-year terms as the Young Physician, Resident and Medical Student Directors.

The deadline is Monday, February 13th by 5:00pm.
Here are a few things you should know before applying:
Obligations of the Board of Director role include (but are not limited to):
- Attendance and active participation at the TCEP Annual Meeting (April 17-18, 2023 Connect in Austin)
- Attendance at quarterly Board of Directors meetings: Summer - Houston; September TBD; January 2024 - Austin; Spring 2024 CONNECT – TBD)
- Attendance at ACEP Council Meeting / Scientific Assembly is encouraged (Philadelphia, Oct. 7-8).
- Attendance at the ACEP Leadership and Advocacy Conference in Washington, DC is strongly encouraged (April 30 - May 4, 2023).
- Travel to meetings is not reimbursed.
Qualifications to be nominated:
- Directors must be Active, Life, or Honorary (former Active) Members of the Texas Chapter in good standing throughout their Board term.
- A Young Physician Director must be an Active Chapter Member less than forty (40) years of age or engaged in the active practice of Emergency Medicine for less than ten (10) years. Shall hold office for one year after his or her election.
- A Candidate Member Director defined as a Resident in good standing in an accredited Texas Emergency Medicine Residency Program, shall hold office for one year after his or her election.
- A Medical Student Member Director defined as a Medical Student in good standing in an accredited Texas Medical School who is active in his or her local Emergency Medicine Interest Group, shall hold office for one year after his or her election. The Medical Student Member Director position is that of a non-voting Member of the Board.
Important deadlines and dates:
February 13, 2023: Deadline to submit the nomination (for self or other member) in writing by email to [email protected].
Feb 22: TCEP Board of Directors vote/approve the Board slate.
The Nominating committee will review all candidates and ask for additional information including a short video (1-2 minutes) about why you want to serve.
Once approved by the Board, the candidates will be sent a survey and request for high resolution photo and video for publication in the March/April issue of Emphasis.
April 17: Elections will take place at the TCEP Annual Business Meeting at the DoubleTree Hotel, downtown Austin. Voting will be electronic so you must have a laptop or phone to access ballots. You must be present to vote.
